Yes, a real journal page. Last year, I got myself a smaller version of the Strathmore Visual Journal--it's a 5 x 8 size--so a little more manageable size. I have the mixed media one--I love the paper in this--you can do anything you want to it. And I decided to use all of these art supplies that I have, but have been afraid to touch, because I don't know how to use them. I've said this before....I always love when I'm making art for myself....I always like it (most of the time).
watercolors, Prismacolor NuPastels (these are awesome to work with!), and Prisma colored pencils....the best part--mixing all of these mediums together. And....this is actually the second journal girl that I've done in this book--you can see the first one HERE .
Plus, I have 2 new art pieces for my Etsy shop. I'm still going with the black, red, and cream theme with the help of my painted papers, and some ephemera that I found when I was cleaning.
Okay..I'm rambling again....I'll just show you the rest of these art pieces...
....on these very deep 6 x 6 canvases from Dick Blick
......mixing my painted papers with stamps and ephemera......
.....and I've added some 3D embellishments...
So here are my 2 finished pieces that are in my shop. I've had a very nice welcome back from customers, and I just wanted to add a couple of more items.
So my "clean" art room is back to being a mess again, but in a good way. I'm making art to sell, but I'm also attending my online art classes, which means that I have different projects all going on at the same time. My once large art room is now becoming very small...but that's okay.....that's what an art room should be like!

I love your journal girl, her eyes move me! Your canvases are fantastic with so much to see. I am just loving all of the things we can do with our art in the computer age. I was slow to get on the boat but baby I AM on the boat! Lol, well... it's a slow boat.

I love your journal girl, Diane! Your finished ETSY pieces will be snapped for sure. Gorgeous and full of interest! :)
There's something very magical about your work Diane... I'm not sure quite what it is... but it's there....
Always love looking at your work and the materials that you use. The dictionary pages are incredible to work with -- and the fact that this woman's name is "Amelia" -- you can't argue with that...lovely how that worked out!
I have to say there is so much to be thankful for when one has so many interests and creates beautifully. Amazing it really is, and I know amazing was said to be the most over used word but it is strong enough for another year.
Love the journal, the pleasure in the doing shows in the beauty.
Your journal page is so lovely, Diane. I love the color palette you chose - very soft and pretty. And your new art pieces are so bold and bright! Hope they go to new homes very soon!
I love your journal art, too! I actually bought a new journal today at Michael's and I'm anxious to get started! Love your art! I just looked in your Etsy shop...I'm still drooling! Hugs! ♥

Oh Diane....so beautiful! The red and black piece is exquisite!!
Beautiful work and I'm glad you are making some art just for yourself. I love that freedom! Next to junking, it one of my favorite and most relaxing things to do.
I just got online for the first time in several weeks (other than some scheduled posts). I'm hoping my computer woes are over and I can visit more often. Thanks for visiting while I was offline. It means a lot to me.
Your latest pieces are gorgeous. You come up with the best embellishments! Love these, and your journal page is so colorful and well done, too.
Love your journal page! I have so much trouble making art just for me....I never keep anything I make.....she is just so lovely!
Your Etsy pieces are incredible, as usual! You put eveything together in such a way, that there is so much yumminess to look at and absorb....they really are one of a kind wonders!
WOW, your 2 art pieces are fantastic and great art as ever! But also I love the colorful page in front, love that amazing face and the flowers around.
I wish you a healthy, creativity happy new year,

I loved this post Diane...all the way from the gorgeous face you painted in prismacolor to the dictionary idea. Somehow I never thought of purchasing a dictionary and copying my work onto it. And..how serendipitious? (my new word?) it was to find her name on her cheek! She is lovely as is all your work.
Your work is always so very cool. Love the faces that you do.
She is fabulous! I have the same journal but haven't used it yet. Great new stuff in Etsy as well. :)
Hi Diane,
You are such a creative, inspirational lady!
I love visiting and seeing your latest work of arts.
Thank you for sharing.
Creative hugs,
Anna
I love your journal page(s)...and was shocked to read that you have art supplies you do not know how to use! I guess we are always learning and that makes me feel better :)
Love your new pieces too. I have several old books that I have thought of using as backgrounds. I think it looks so vintage and interesting what words show up.
Now if you had said that you were making new items for your shop, attending online art classes and your art room was still clean I would know you were no longer sleeping:) Have a great week!
LOVE those canvases ... I'm a bit of a steampunk queen on the quiet, but never seem to make it myself any more. The colours are particularly FAB!
beautiful elegant face
You are amazing! Love everything you make. It is sooo fantastic. The faces are so beautiful and dreamy. And your papers have so much cool detail. I'm in awe!
I'm doing the strathmore class too, although I've yet to actually complete the first lesson. :l Your art is inspiring.
Love your journal page and all of the black red and cream art pieces. Just beautiful. I love how you got her name. I love when that happens, like it was meant to be.
