When I took Christy Tomlinson's She Art 2 workshop last year, she had a guest teacher one of the weeks, and it was Junelle Jacobsen who shared with us a very fun rolled paper technique. And then, Christy made a you tube tutorial about it that you can see here--
So I decided to put my own spin on this technique with my house...
So I decided to put my own spin on this technique with my house...
.....and my cupcake....
...followed by a good cup of coffee...
I used my painted pages that I showed you HERE.
This is very fun to do and VERY addictive! And then.....I was reading my latest issue of Somerset Studio, and I had to share with you this article by Carolyn Dube about making your own artist tape (another love of mine). I love these decorative tapes, and when I saw her article, I knew that I had to try it. All you have to do is get the plain white artist tape and stick it onto a non-stick surface (I used wax paper), and have fun with it---just like painting your own papers--
(sorry for the blurry pic)
....which I've already started to use on my 2 rolled paper pieces...
This is why I love the online art community--everyone is here to help and encourage each other. Why keep these things to yourself?? I get as much excitement showing and sharing any tips or techniques as I do discovering them and trying them out!
And there's one more thing I wanted to share with you. I found this on a facebook friend's page--LOVE it!

This is gorgeous, Diane! I already saw them on your FB. :)So yummy! And I love the tapes I just wonder how good they stick after that.
Wow I love it Diane, all the fabulous color and paper! I love it when the art almost jumps off the canvas and seems so alive! It has given me a few new ideas and that is always a welcome thing...

This is great Diane! Christy has so many fun ideas.
I'll have to give this tape a try.
Have a great day!
That cupcake and coffee is just adorable. Love all of them.
your creations are gorgeous...really love these canvases! thanks for sharing these inspirations...
I absolutely love that cupcake!!!
Love the rooled papers, MGB Coffee has a firm foil seal after the lid comes off, I ave rooled them and can use the adirondak ink on them I think, after I unroll them of course. I like the tape idea, frequently I want to add an interesting border to a painting.
The roll really adds dimention, and yours must be quite firm.
Yes inspiration, and even the smallest thing ,not large like yours today can spark something for the artist.
Alright a log house! Love all the pieces you created with your paper rolls and home made tape. Love seeing your creativity at work
That's pretty cool. I've never seen this. Thanks for sharing. They really make your work "pop". I love that cupcake! Great work Diane.

Diane...I love, love that rolled paper technique! I like your homemade tape. I have used masking tape and the medical cloth tape you can pick up where band-aids, etc. are sold. Your work is so inspiring...I hope you are having a great week...I am.
Cheers,
Mary

Diane, I have to wonder, do you ever sleep?? It amazes me how you find the time to try all these ideas and never seem to be at a loss for what to do next.

Ha! How funny about the lost supplies! I swear, I keep a clean house, but it looks like a bomb went off in the studio! Picture me sitting in the mush pot, surrounded by supplies galore - and very often not finding a thing, lol!
BUT your space is so neat and tidy! Have a great weekend, xoxo
Gorgeous!! All of it! Wow, I am so amazed and inspired!!!
