Making Use of My 'Scrap'book Paper

Before  I  share  what  I've  been  doing,  I  just  wanted to  thank  you  all  for taking  the  time  to  come  and  visit  and  leaving  very  encouraging  comments  on  my  posts.   I've  decided  to  cut  way  back  on  my  computer  time  for  right  now.   I've  cut  back  on  blogging,  and  even  though  I've  been  visiting  blogs  (I  enjoy them  too  much  to  give  up),  I  haven't  taken  the  time  to  leave  comments.  This  is  a  very  busy  time  for  me  with  my  big  big  3  weekend  show  coming  up  in  September,  and  from  experience,  it  can  be  very  stressful  trying  to  produce  enough  art.

So  by  doing  this,  instead  of  producing  fast  art,  I'm  creating  art  that  I  really  want  to  make  and  enjoying  the  process  of  it.   At  first,  it  was  a  bit  hard  to  make  myself  get  off  of  this  computer,  but  it's  getting  easier  for  me  (it's  an  addiction : )   So,  needless  to  say,  I've  been  making  lots  of  art,  and  I  do  post  it  everyday  on  my  Facebook  art  page.   I  do  this  for  my  benefit,  because  I  like  to  have  one  place  where  I  can  refer  back  to  my  previous  art--to  see  how  I  made  certain pieces.   So  if  you  want  to  see  any  more  of  my  art,  you  can  see  it  there  for  sure.

So....now  I'll  get  back  to  what  this  post  is  about.....I  have  a  ton  of  bits  and  pieces  of  scrap  and  painted  papers  that  I  wanted  to  use.   There's  a  lot  of  ways  of  doing  this,  but  I  decided  to do  something  I  haven't  done  in  a  while.

I decided  to  make  some  art  with  puzzle  pieces.  I  always  pick  up  these   children's  board  puzzles  at  garage  sales--so  now  I  have  lots and  lots  of  them.   Some  of  them,  I'll   keep  for  Zoie,  and  I'll  still  have  enough  of  them--yeah,  I  have  a  lot!

The  first  thing  I  did  was  put  a  background  on  a  canvas--

I  made  this  with   watered-down   acrylics,  followed  by   alcohol  drips,  stamping,  and  added  chalk  pastel  highlights--I  really  like  this  look.

And  then  the  puzzle  pieces--

.....added  on  to  the  canvas--

.....ending  up  with  these  fun  pieces  of  art--

...the  puzzle  pieces  add  great  interest  and  dimension  to  the  canvas--a  little  time  consuming,  but  now  that  I've  budgeted  my  time  more  wisely--I was  able  to  make  these!   And  see  that  chair  that  they're  on?  That's  my  next  project--to  paint  something  on  it,  not  sure  what though--whatever  I  do,  I  hope  to  show  the  progression  of  it  on  my  FB  page--stay  tuned...

P.S.  Thank  you  all  again  for  your  kind  words---I  appreciate  this  always!!

I love the way you have used the puzzle pieces and I also know what you mean about the internet. I spend more time looking at other peoples art than I do on my own but it is just too tempting.

Having just gotten into doing the art fairs, I can well appreciate just how flat out busy you are, selling then creating all over again to replace the things that sell! Been keeping up with you on FB, it's a great choice when blogging just can't be fitted in :-) Love these new pieces, another novel idea

Wow! This is genius! One of those "why didn't I think of that" moments. No really I've been looking at your art and I really admire what you can do.

My name is Sarah, I'm a new follower. This is my first time visiting and I can't wait to come back to see what you come up with next.

Well, you have an awesome day!

Diane you amaze me with your creativity! I can certainly understand cutting back on blogging time. If it gets too hard for you, I will send you my dinosaur laptop that overheats way too fast...and I can't watch any videos either. So it would definitely keep your computer time down! Can't wait to hear about the September shows...in October. Enjoy creating! Big hugs to you.
