In their bird house--these are the three elements that I like to use the most in my art (aside from my new obsession with faces), houses, hearts, and birds--so I loved this week's challenge. To start out with, I used this old cupboard door I had that had a glass insert--
I then collaged text from my favorite over-sized children's book that I have and scrapbook papers--
And then for the bird house I used my scrapbook papers again--
I love making pictures with papers--kind of like putting a puzzle together. It's very relaxing for me.
I also wanted to show you a WIP. Tara doesn't like using that word, but I kind of do, although I've never used it before. Remember my journal pages from last week?
Well, I started it--I know, I know, I'm a slow-poke, but I started it--
And I know, it's another face--I can't get away from them. One of the ladies from my Suzi class, Kristen had posted some of her faces with text on them, and I loved the way that they turned out, so thanks to her, this is what I decided to do. I keep adding layers to her face, and when I want to preserve what I've done, I just add clear gesso to her, and then I can add more layers. She kind of looks sad or mad--either way--it's probably because I WON'T LEAVE HER ALONE!! So I'll leave her be for a while and continue on with these pages. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I'll let her tell me.
For once in my life I'm speechless. Your altered cabinet door is superb, stunning, scrumptious and every other superlative in the book. Your birdhouse art is exquisite and I am in awe. Your "bonus" picture is wonderful too. The layering is so perfecct.
ReplyDeleteTake a bow for the huge standing ovation that is approaching!!
I love, love, love it.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a brilliant ides.
I love it when old things, like that door can be recycled to something so beautiful.
Your journal page is very pretty too.
I allways enjoy to see what you create.
Have a great day
Janine
Gorgeous bird door!
ReplyDeleteLove your bird door and love your Suzi face with the text!! Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI like how you take found objects and make art with them. And your face is very very good...I like the text on the face...I'll have to try that. The face I finished today doesn't have any clear gesso, I'm not sure which I like best...off to watch LOST.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Mary
Love your altered cabinet door- the collage itself is wonderful and such lovely soft spring colors! Your journal pages are beautiful as well!
ReplyDeleteI certainly like your door, so pretty, nice to see what you started with and the final piece of art work. I am a bird nut also.
ReplyDeleteYour face, I so like the freedom of her, she doesn't show an ounce of struggle from the artist. Look at the wonderful hair. That is my goal to not have the face show struggle from me.
So now I have to go look for a crow, and decide if I realy want a crow or not, then work on a hairline along the forehead, so I have to be careful not to mess that up.
I really like how you reused the cabinet door - and love the imagery
ReplyDeleteYour bird high-rise tenement is a true work of art. The delicate colors make it very special. Thank you, too, for sharing the WIP. She's going to be something!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so very, very beautiful! The text behind your drawing is so interesting - I want to try it too . . . Kristin :)

ReplyDeleteHoly WOW..... a cupboard door. Girlfriend, you are just way too much. Yes, I have a few of those doors I would like to take an axe to but their in use. . . in my kitchen! LOL. I know, I know, the snow is now ugly again and we have another 12"-24" moving in tomorrow and snowing into Saturday. We haven't had this much snow in 8 years. The Snow God, yes, she is mad at us here in the nation's capitol... do tell, won't go there. You stay warm and I so LOVE your suzi faces - you are very good at them....... hugs
ReplyDeleteHow marvellous Diane! You're an alterer after my own heart - and this is such an excellent interpretation of the challenge. I love everything about it, from the scrappy papers to the drawing and birds. The jounral page spread is coming along beautifully too - never apologise for what you do, that just takes away from your process, which is wonderful. Thanks for sharing yourself and your creative processes... =)
