Okay, I'm still working on my "quilts", but I thought I should spend some time on my classes, since I was so excited about them. So in Suzi's new class, I'm feeling a little more confident with the 3/4 view, and I think I'm ready to put some color in this Elizabeth--
I think she seems a little more regal than my other one that I posted. I'm just tired of sketching and I want some color now.
And I also signed up for Julie Prichard and Chris Cozen's Complex Collage class just last week, so I'm just getting started in that one. Right now they're going over the principals of collage, and they're covering everything right down to the different mediums that you can use. They're going to teach us how to make interesting collages with layers and color and also texture as opposed to just gluing an image to a surface. This is what I want to learn. I want to make a collage that will be interpreted differently from each person that views it---one with depth and meaning. I hope I can achieve this.
And I also want to thank Bobbi for giving me this--
I love her blog Bobbi's Art. She is a multi-talented artist, and she also likes to go thrift store shopping--my kind of girl. And I love her humor too and check out the beautiful way she photographs what she's posting. So--thank you Bobbi--it's so nice to get these awards--I will always appreciate them!! And she really did send me some sunshine--it's actually sunny here today! It's been raining since Tuesday, and hey, we even had a little snow yesterday : )
I love your new Susi face!!! I am taking the Complex Collage class also. Okay: reality update--hated that Rob got voted off--when are they going to get wise to Russell--ick-can't stand him!! and my favs for Idol is Crystal--she's like a young Melissa Etheridge or Bonnie Rait. Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI like your Elizabeth face...great job! I am also on Suzi's class, I haven't had time to start with the painting...

You draw so well. Elizabeth is beautiful. The 3/4 view is a big wow. I've heard it's the hardest to draw.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your collage art from Complex Collage. You know collage is my thing.
What a lovely sketch! I can understand your wanting to add color! Have fun with in the collage class! Hugs, Terri
ReplyDeletecool I have to check out jane's new class...that's exactly something I've been wondering about....hoping I'll need to know that kinda of stuff in my future...lol.
ReplyDeleteLove your girl for suzi's class....still now finish playing with mine...I love the tudors but not really in the mood to do something for the tudors...I'm leaning towards doing something else. take care
Love your girl, she does look like a queen. And thanks for posting about grittyjane,I think I might be able to afford that one LOL. I can't believe it snowed there yesterday, crazy weather, its almost in the nintys down here, time to close up the windows and put on the air conditioner.
ReplyDeleteI am really loving this Elizabeth. I debated about taking Julie's new collage workshop. I might do it a little bit later. Of course, I will see your creation and get so jealous I will have to run over and sign up! Can't wait to see you use color on your Regal Gal!
ReplyDeleteOh you got the 3/4 all right. Way to go. Just saw your photo of Bob-he is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour new class looks very interesting. I love the work you are currently doing with Suzi Blu's class. I hope to be able to take a class with her next month (fingers crossed). :) Congratulations on your lovely award! Theresa
ReplyDeleteFirst of all...I love Gritty Jane!! She is one of my favorite artists. I just bought her prints of wood tutorial. AND your SUZI face is fabulous.Mine are looking a little better but I'm not quite there yet.
ReplyDeleteI love these!! I am off to check out the link for the technique! I would love to hear how the class is going....Julie is an amazing instructor! You will enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love the portrait! Yes, she is regal-you are doing great, I can't wait to see the next one.
ReplyDeletediane, you are one heck of a female! i heart you! your art is great! your suzi face is real nice. why is there no space on your blog for "contact me" or "email me" huh?
ReplyDeleteYes you draw so well, placement and the right equality in features when you want that seems like a success for you. Sometimes we don't mind but it is great to be able to get what we want and not have to settle for what we get when creating a piece of art work.
ReplyDeleteI am very intereted to see your complex collage and maybe gain some understanding of it. I know it has a different look with transfers, and drawing as you progress with a work. I like that transparency that comes with the skill of process.
I like your quilt blocks also, as I like quilting, with some time and effort I could do more of this with fabric, no time right now. I am a big time gardener also so have to turn attention to that and get this presentation and talk done. I may then have a class of 12 coming up for instruciton on the basic face and getting it into a small quilt. People are responding well to my teaching method. This is not an online class it is local.
I also like Gritty Jane, I vist her blog often.
I much enjoy coming here and reading what you have to say, you would be a great instructor also. I think this because of how you write and communicate.
Diane, your Elizabeth is so lovely! She is regal, elegant, pretty- just perfect! Can't wait to see her with colour! Thanks for the feedback on my work too, it helps so much to get help from artists whose work I love and respect so much- like YOU. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYour art is soooo fabulous my friend!!! Whimisical & wonderful, what a talent you have. And your quilt blocks...love them! Thanks for being such a great friend to me & always leaving such sweet comments!!!
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
