First of all I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We sure did, but I must say that I'm a bit exhausted.
And now let me talk about my favorite Christmas present. I've mentioned in passing ever since I first found about this, that I would really like it, but I didn't think that anyone was really listening.........but you know what? they were!
My Art Journal blog in a book.........published!!
And this is page 1--
And then when you turn the page, you'll come to the table of contents--
And it continues on for a total of 359 more pages.
Is this not the best!! I can flip through actual pages of a journal that was created by me and no one else. So although I did not make an actual art journal in 2010-- I really did! And now when I'm doing something in my room and want to re-create a technique that I did on my blog, I'll have this source of reference right at my fingertips. This is volume 1--it covers the first complete year of my blogging--here's hoping that there will be many more volumes to come. I would advise anyone to get this--it's great!!
And now that all of the gift giving has come to an end, I can show you a couple of presents that I gave to my daughter and son-in-law. I didn't want to put these on my blog before--just in case anyone in the family saw them.
The first one was created by Rebecca from Penny Lane Ink. If you're not familiar with her art, then you must go to her blog and view it!
This is Marc, Jen and of course---Bob! Along with her very cool art, she also does custom portraits in her very unique style. You can find out about it at her Etsy shop.
And speaking of Bob, look at what he gave his Mom for Christmas--
He contacted Kelly after he saw the beautiful pendants that she made me. He knew that his Mom would love this. Kelly will make these personalized pendants for anyone--and all you have to do is go to her Etsy shop as well. The wonders of today's technology--all I had to is email these photos to Rebecca and Kelly. So it goes without saying that Jen and Marc really loved their Christmas presents!
And there's one more thing that I wanted to talk about--Lovey! She was guest curator at Crescendoh.com this last week, and each day she featured 2 blogs. Well today, mine was one of the blogs that she featured. I just want to thank this special lady for including me with all of the other very creative blogs that she featured--seriously-- these are all wonderful artists. And I want to congratulate Lovey for being published in the latest issue of Sew Somerset--her art is as special as she is!
That is a wonderful and thoughtful gift for you!!!

What an incredible present Diane - have you really only been blogging a year? It feels like I have been visiting for so much longer. Thanks for sharing your art and creativity with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift! That is really cool. I like blogging but I love to hold books, magazines, etc. in my hand and turn the pages. Nothing will ever replace good old paper and ink. So it must be really neat to be able to hold your blog in your hand and page through the entries.

WOW - that book of your blogs is a treasure! Love the pennants and so happy Bob is featured. Larcy still talks about the photo you had one time of Bob driving and is still trying to get a photo of Oliver driving her car. Happy New Year, friend! And on another note, I did not mind Fabio winning Survivor! Had an inkling if he made it to the final three - he might win!

I love seeing your blog published in book form. And how extra special to have had your family gift it to you! I have done two books now for my first 2 years of blogging and find it to be not only a journal of my art but of my family events as well. Such a wonderful thing to have to pass on to grandkids one day.
ReplyDeleteThe art you shared by others is terrific too. I have never seen zentangled photos before. How clever is that, and how well she did it too. And of course the pendants are priceless.
Happy New Year!!! And Happy Art Making.
I have been trying to get here for DAYS and, like you, I think I need a break. Maybe after the first of the year, things will calm down a bit. What a wonderful gift your family got you. I first saw that book on Lynn's site and was really impressed. Your family knew exactly what to get you.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of gifts, those gifts you got for your kids and Bob are special. Is that like zentangles? Her art is very unique and I recognized Bob immediately. As for the pendants, Bob did good. I bet "grandmother" had something to do with helping him pick the perfect gift, too.
I hope you had a great Christmas. Little did I know when I left suddenly last Wednesday that I would not have access to the internet. I didn't even get to wish you a Merry Christmas, and now it's time to wish you good fortune, fame, and fun in 2011. All the best to you, dear friend.
What a wonderful, thoughtful gift! Seriously - a treasure. :) I hope you have a wonderful New Year & wish you a 2011 full of love, laughter, joy, success & creativity!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Diane...what an awesome gift!! I love the blog book and was thinking of making one for myself as well. You are truly a soul to behold. Your talents are in multitude and I am honored to know you and call you my friend. You have a beautiful family and I know there's so much more to come for you. Blessings and Have a Happy New Year! xoxo
ReplyDeletePlease tell me how and where they did your blog book!!! Oh my goodness, I have SO been wanting to do that!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!!!
