Yes, what about Bob?--poor sweet little Bob. For those of you who don't know, Bob is a part of the family.
He's my daughter's and son-in-law's dog--just don't tell him that! Well, Bob has been having some problems. About 5 weeks ago, when they woke up in the morning they noticed that Bob was limping, and then they noticed that his back leg was swollen. So that day they took him to the Doctor's and by the time they got to the Dr.'s office, his leg was twice the size. The Dr. told them that Bob must have hit his leg the day before, and his leg was filled with blood and it needed to be drained. Okay, no problem---
(although, in their mind, they didn't think he hit his leg at all)
Here he is all done at the Dr.'s office. Notice--he's panting--not because he's hot (it was probably 20 degrees out)--it's because he's happy and excited (he pants when he's happy like this : ) He loves going to the Dr.'s--it doesn't matter what they do to him either. I think he was proud of his new bandage too.
Well after a week or so, it just didn't seem to be healing right, so the Dr. decided to re-open the leg, and drain it again, but this time--for added protection--this is how Bob came home--
He was very proud of his protective cone too!! Although, if you notice, this cone is a new kind--it's a foam material, which was no problem for Bob to be able to maneuver around it and rip his bandage off. (He's home alone all day --so this probably gave him something to do)
Well after he did this, and after the Dr. checked his leg, he said just to keep the bandage off because it looked okay and being open to the air would heal it faster. Well......it didn't. As a matter of fact, by the next week, it was worse, and it got to the point where Bob was walking only on 3 legs. I want you to keep in mind, that Bob, the whole time, never complained--he's always happy. When they finally took him back to the Dr.'s for the umpteenth time, my daughter told me that it looked like there was a golf ball underneath his skin.
Immediately after seeing this, the Dr. set him up for emergency surgery. And what they found were a mass of tiny and spreading tumors in his leg. Somehow these tumors we're swelling up his leg with blood--not quite sure--you'd have to talk to the Dr. Needless to say, this was very alarming, and a biopsy was taken to see if it was cancer. And if it was cancer, they would have to amputate his leg. This was a week ago.
My son-in-law wouldn't leave him and fortunately he works for his very understanding father, and Marc (my son-in-law) stayed home with Bob. But Marc was bored, so his father told him that he could bring Bob to work with him, as long as Bob was contained. So...that's just what he did--
HAPPY as a clam!!!---he got to go to work with Dad! As long as he's with people, he doesn't care what the situation is. You can kind of notice the very large splint on his leg. This is why they didn't want to leave him alone at home--they didn't know what they would find when they came home at night.
Okay--the news is good--99.9%--not cancer--sigh of relief! The Dr. is going to keep checking him however in the next few months.
Poor Bob--he's always having problems--but always happy! And in no time, I'm sure he'll be back to normal!
Oh my goodness, what an ordeal for Bob, and his family! I do hope Bob gets better. Please let us know how he is!
ReplyDeleteBob is a role model! I hope we all have Bob's spirit too. Not afraid of the doctor and continues to become happy knowing that there are people who love him. :)
ReplyDeleteKeep us update with Bob :)
Beautiful and cute dog!
ReplyDeleteKisses.
Poor sweet Bob! My Ellie would LOVE Bob! She's happy too and would want to comfort him and play. What a blessing our people-dogs are, aren't they? Bob is absolutely adorable! A true best friend. I love his eyes. ~Kathy
ReplyDeleteDiane so well written, what a darling and good little dog, and I wonder if he knows how well his dog grandma writes about him, telling others of the trials in his life.
ReplyDeleteIt seems wrong to say I enjoyed this becaue I want Bob to be well , it is a huge stress in life to have one's pet sick or injured, and then especially to not really know the reasons for the problem.
Sending Bob much wellness.
Omg Diane,I couldnt read fast enough,I thought it was going to be a bad ending.I'm sooooo glad hes doing ok. And he does alway seem happy. Poor guy. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear Bob is doing well!
ReplyDeleteOh my, Diane, you gave me a scare and of course I had to run over to check on Bob. At times I was LOL, literally, and am so grateful Bob is now recovering - however he has a taste of going to work - still chuckling on the photo of the "baby pen" and it looks pretty darn permanent to be - WOW Working Bob - do we address him as Bob or Mr. Bob!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, poor Bob! He really is adorable. I'm so glad he's going to be okay. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteGlad Bob is going to be okay!!!
ReplyDeleteBob is an inspiring kind of guy. so glad to hear they found the tumours causing all the troubles and that they are not cancerous. What a great little guy.
ReplyDeleteOh Diane what a relief that must have been to hear the good news...poor sweet Bob! I am a HUGE animal lover and advocate so it just breaks my heart to hear about a little guy struggling along bravely with an infirmity. Pets can be such an inspiration on how to handle life's challenges...they never fight against what gets thrown at them but just adjust and carry on!
ReplyDeleteLove and prayers to little Bob!

ReplyDeleteOh poor little sweet thing. I'm glad it's not cancer. Don't you wish they could talk to us. Tell us they love us and when they don't feel good? I do. But that would be kind of freaky too. LOL. I'm glad he's doing ok. I have a dog too and she is my baby. So I can understand why his daddy let him go to work with him. I be Bob was thrilled to be there. Dogs hate to be alone.
ReplyDeleteBob has won my heart! I'm cheering for him to have a complete and speedy recovery...we humans could take attitude advice from Bob!
ReplyDeleteWe should all be mannered like Bob...going with the flow...trusting everything will be OK.

I love Frenchies..soo cute so I was immediately drawn to his sweet face. Poor old Bob. I too and relieved he will be ok. I recently lost my German Shepherd girl and we are all sad here. Haven't been without one for 38 years. I dreamed of puppies last night along with other fun things. Good thing the puggies are here and keeping us from being morose. They too like nothing better than to be with Dad and go places and meet people. Give kisses to Bob for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeletePoor Bob! I am glad he is okay! I lost my best friend Cork this past week and it really sucks. I love dogs but when you lose one you think is so amazing and special...it is devastating.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that there was a happy ending. I was getting nervous reading thinking the worst. Bob is a sweetie!
