....beginning of a new month--and the start of a new piece--on a larger canvas (18 x 24) I know for some of you that's a normal size canvas to work on, but I'm more used to the smaller ones. I think it's that big white canvas staring back at me that always intimidates me. So I just started putting on paint and marks and anything else that was close at hand. Here's just a part of the canvas from the beginning--
And I wish that I would have taken more photos of the rest of the canvas---wasn't thinking....
....because most of it got covered up once I started going--
...little bits and pieces peeking through--and my finished piece which came together rather quickly once I let my muse take over--
Once I get going--I really enjoy working on the larger canvases.
So going back to my original photo--my start of the canvas---I decided to use that image as a background for some more art. So I cropped parts of it and adhered them on to 8 x 8 canvases (more my size) to use --a jumping off point to create a new piece.
I started with the hot air balloon (my first--I like it! :).....
which lead me to finish the 'story' of this piece--
Same story with the next one--
...really happy with these, and that's why I wished I would have taken more shots of the original canvas. This is a great way of getting started with a piece when you have a little bit of an artist's block--it seems that once the background is down (no matter what it is)--it's easier to just start creating.
And changing the subject--a few days ago was Zoie's first birthday!! She's such a little sweetie!
And another reason for her to be so happy is that she's getting a new cousin in October--my daughter is having a baby! We are SUPER excited here!!
Great canvasses Diane, they look so playful! Amazing artwork...
ReplyDeleteLittle Zoey looks so sweet...and another grandchild...wow happy you!
kind regards, Alie :-)
I've told you already that your 'big' canvas is wonderful (it's a small canvas to me :-) So glad you are using portions of it on other pieces because it's a great backdrop. And I love the hot air balloon, more for sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat artwork!! I admire the way you paint. It really makes me happy and I think I´m not the only one.
