And here's a better view of the cover--
When I first saw what the theme was going to be, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do. I wouldn't really call myself a Mardi Gras type of girl. If I lived in New Orleans, I'd probably stay at home. But then Lisa from my Suzi Blu class (who I have a feeling would love to go to the Mardi Gras, or I may be wrong--which is it, Lisa? : ) said to me-- what is Mardi Gras without a Suzi goddess, and she was right, so thanks Lisa for the spark!
I just started out with a boring unfinished wood box that you find at the craft store. You might be seeing alot more of these boxes. My first art fair is next month, and these are hot items there. Then I just made it colorful and glitzy with different papers, metallic paint, and "jewels", and then finished it off with a high gloss varnish, because it has to be shiny!!
I also think that this box would come in handy for a Suzi goddess--she would put all of her beads that she collected in it : ) And you know who else would have appreciated this box for storing her beads--Clara of course. I think it's official--Clara is my muse--either that, or my alter-ego. Or is that one in the same?
And I also wanted to show you the latest photo of my grandson, Bob. This is for my wallet : ) He just celebrated his 5th birthday, which happened to be on Friday--the same day as mine!!

What a beautiful box - and yes, I would love to go to Mardi Gras! I had to check your blog first as soon as I had seen you had posted. Had Diane done Suzi proud I wondered?? Of course she had!!
In the smaller size, I kinda thought this might be a Mardi Gras Rubik's Cube! What a fabulously colorful box, very pretty!
Hi Diane! Happy Belated Birthday! Your Mardi Gras box is fabulous! Your painted girl is lovely. I always enjoy seeing your latest creation. Love the photo of Bob too. He is adorable!

I think I would love Mardi Gras - if I were 20 years younger
now I'll splurge on fried food (what I'm giving up for lent) and go to bed early cuz Mardi Gras is always during tax season!

Dont' we all love boxes, I do and your is a beauty. Color, jewels and a pretty face what more could a woman want?
WOW what a wonderful box!!! I love it and the Suzi goddess is fabulous too. Yep, Clara is your muse! Or alter art ego. ") Happy Valentines Day!
I went to Mardi Gras one year, and if you are not a drinker (and I am not), you probably won't care for it. Even the parades were cheesy, at least that was my opinion. What I did love was the French Quarter, the beads, and the combination of green, purple, and gold. This box really catches the essence of Mardi Gras, and with your lovely painted face makes it even more special.
Nice photo of Bob. Has he been helping you lately?
Oh this is just fabulous! I love the feet on the box, great idea! And the hair and the face, oh I love it all. You see ladies painted just like this on the streets of the Quarter...
Those are some pretty fancy eyelashes your Suzi girl has!! Great box and of course she would keep all her beads in it! Bob is a hoot!
That's a great Mardi Gras box! And your grandson is adorable although he looks nothing like you!!!!!

Wow, you really nailed the colors and feeling of New Orleans at Mardi Gras and your Suzi girl is just the thing for all that hoopla. Beautiful!en
uaaaauuuu... wonderful work. I am impressed.
A Goddess and Poet II???? I will definitely be taking that one! Maybe she will show us how to make the body! I loved Suzi. I was even thinking about doing the Petit Dolls. If you decide to buy some copics let me know first so i can help you. There is a learning curve in the color system and so many colors it will make you head spin.
Diane, that's a fantastic Mardi Gras box! Well done, love the colors!
Oh, and Bob.....what a cutie pie!
