Probably My Favorite, and Have You Heard of Core Impressions?

Another  piece  of  coffee art,  and  the  reason  this  is  probably  my  favorite  is  because  of  the  way  it  came  together.   I  found  a  scrapbook  page  that  I  had  that  was  filled  with  phrases  all  over  it,  and  it  was  the  same color  scheme  that  I've  been  working  with,  and  it  gave  me  an  idea--

I  love  it!!

And......have  you  seen  these  before  by  Core'dinations?

They're  called  Core  Impressions.   This  particular  scrapbook  pad  has  Jenni  Bowlin  designs,  but  they  also  have  Basic  Grey,  Graphic  45,  and  My  Mind's  Eye  to  name  a  few.  They're  textured  cardstock  pages--the  textured  side  is  one  color  and  the  back  of  it  is  another  color,  and  when  you  sand  it,  this  is  what  happens--

--they're  very  fun,  and  this  one  was  perfect  for  the  sides  of  my  coffee  house--

And  in  my  last  post  I  mentioned  how  I  liked  using  the  dictionary  pages  for  the  background  and  how  you  find  things  in  the  pages  after  the  fact.    I  was  working  on  my  one  piece  on  New  Year's  Eve,  and  I  promise  you  that  I  didn't  do  this  on  purpose.   But  when  I  was  adding  the  final  details  I  noticed  this--

When  I  saw  that  page  number,  I  made  sure  not  to  cover  it  up.   How  freaky  is  that?!  Seriously--what  are  the  chances  of  me  ripping  out  page  2012  when  there  are  almost  3000  pages  in  this  book!

That sanded paper is a great idea! I love the way it brings out the texture. Page 2012 is such a coincedence, like something subliminal at work.

These are so interesting, full of little details and embellishments that just keep you looking. You find the coolest things to use, like the sandable paper, what a great effect. And I'm with you what are the chances that 2012 was the page you used!

Thanks for always leaving your lovely comments on my Blog. You recently asked where I got my prints made. I am fortunate to have a person who lives right around the corner, from me, who is in the business. xxoo

I love the 20 12 story, it was just meant to be on that day to have that turn of artfulness.

I have this idea that we turn to red frequently in Jan. I see a lot of it out there and I am in the mood myself. Doing some red things around the house.

O have to go back and look at your post again, you gave the best tip and I can't remember what it was now but I knew I would use it. How feeble is that?

I love this piece!!! I know I keep saying it but you're just so darn creative!! I love all those great little quotes around it! And that embossed paper looks pretty darn cool... may have to find me some! I use vintage dictionary pages a lot and have had some weird coincidences pop up too!! It's kind of cool though. Happy creating to you and I hope you enjoy your weekend.

I realize I'm late getting here, but I finally made it to see your awesome Coffee assemblage. Loved the serendipity of the background.

Yes, I have seen the Core Impressions. I saw the paper demoed several years ago during a few episodes of the old Scrapbooking show on PBS (now called Scrapbook Soup). There were several ways to use the paper, but all I remember is sanding and tearing the paper to expose the core.

Wow! That's crazy that 2012 would be there! Amazing amazing piece Diane! I absolutely love it...I am looking into that textured paper right now.!

My favorite phrase is "paint the sky any color but blue". I have done this on several paintings and the result is always rewarding.

Thanks for sharing your work and photos! What an inspiration. Its' time for some coffee now!

I love this Coffee House piece! And Wow what a "coinkidinki" that 2012 was! I bet you got chill bumps on your arms and faintly heard in the distance the theme from "The Twilight Zone" when you saw that! Thanks for showing up the paper. Very cool!!!!!
