A New Piece of Art

I  had  this  larger  canvas--18 x 24--and  I  wasn't  quite  sure  what  I was  going  to  do  with  it,  so  I  just  started  putting  color  on  it--you  know,  like  everyone  says  to  do,  but  I  still  didn't  know  what  to  do  next.   Actually,  it  was  like  blocks  of  color,  and  after  a  while,  I  started  to  see  houses.   I  really  didn't  want  to  do  the  houses,  but it  just  kind  of  happened....

and  they  filled  up  the  entire  canvas,  and  I  really  liked  the  way  they  ended  up--kind  of  planned,  but  not  entirely  planned,  if  you  know  what  I  mean.   I'm  really  liking  these  colors  too....and  I'm  still  just  a  bit  obsessed  with  the  Finch  family  that  lived  on  my  porch  for  a  while...

And  since  my  shows  start  in  3  weeks,  I  had  to  do  some  more  recycling--

Another  cool  knob  for  the  top--

I  found  a  bunch  of  these  faucets  at  a  garage  sale  for  50 cents  each--that's  a  very  good  deal--if  you've  priced  them  on  Etsy,  you'll  agree.

And   more  house  recycling--
I'm  so  glad  for  digital  cameras  and  computers.   Some  of  these  houses  that  I  found  for  this  box  are  images  from  almost  2  years  ago--something  I  never  would  have  been  able  to  do  10  years  ago,  mainly  because  the  only  thing  I  knew  how  to  do  back  then  was  check  my  email.   The  computer  has  become  a  great  art  tool  for  me,  and  I  know  pretty  much  for  everyone  else  reading  this  too.

So  I'm  back  to  my  art room  now--more  houses  are  on  the  way--another  one  of  my  favorite  subjects  to  use  in  my  art.

Beautiful finished piece, enjoyed seeing the detail, noticing the layers of colours, scratched and aged look to the background and houses. Then you are a master of the doodle and collage.
So what kind of a printer gives you such great results with your digital images that's what I'm wondering :-)

Your art always makes me smile! I have a few of those faucet knobs too and haven't decided what to to with them yet...now if only I could make art like this! :-) (I just ordered some Portfolio pastels...can't wait to use them!) Wish I could make it to your show, I would love to own a piece of your beautiful art!

All kinds of houses appeal to me, they hold so much for any person to think about. There have been times I bought a book just becaue I liked the house on the cover.

I like these and your art, people often feel the same as I do about houses so a good selling item.

I had been fixed on houses also and did a posted piece for someone leaving their house, hold the house in ones hand.

BTW now my husband even asks about Bob, your blog was up one day while he was on the ocmputer.

have been thinking of you and your shows Ihad sort of forgotten you were doing fall shows, a great idea.

What gorgeous pieces. I really love the first house. All those houses were perfect for that piece. And the knob on the top of that one is a great find. I haven't checked E-bay, but I know you can get things at garage sales that are a lot cheaper. Great find and great art. Hope you new show is a success. It should be with all the art you've been showing.

There is a nice new color harmony I see running through these new pieces, stronger, bold, more edgy less girly. more graphic, I like that a lot.

Beautiful work! You are SO right about the computer. I was never even interested in taking pictures before digital. I love that instant gratification. And one of the very best things about the computer and art is the community and inspiration and encouragement!!
