29 Faces Day 28--A Giveaway!!

Well,  I   didn't  make   the 29  faces  in  February,  but  I  blogged  every day!  That  was  my  challenge  to  myself--I  think  it's  going  to  be  a  while  before  I  take  on  that  challenge  again  : )

But  during  this  month  I  hit  1000  flollowers  (wow--thank  you  guys!!)  And  because  of  that  and  me  coming  to the  end  of  this  challenge,  I've  decided  to  have  a  giveway--

 

 

 

She  was  my  favorite  face  that  I  made  this  month,  so  I  made  a  print  of  her  and  mounted  her  on  an  8 x 8  cradleboard  panel.

 

 

 

...did  my  little  'paint'over'  technique--even  with  the  poppies--so  now  she's  all  ready  to  hang  and  waiting  for  a  new  home.

29 Faces Day 27

My  latest  face  is  on  wood--one  of  my  favorite  substrates  to  paint  on--

 

 

She's  on  a  pine  board  that  my  husband  cut  down  for  me  into  the  shape  of  a  long  skinny  house.  I  made  these  'whimsy'  houses  last  year--and  I'm  planning  on  making  more....

29 Faces Day 26

Day  26--I'm  getting  there--this  wasn't  as  easy  as  I  thought--I'm  sure  a LOT  of  you  can  relate--it's  hard  to  stay  focused  on  one  subject  for  a  whole  month!   Well, for  today,  I  have  a  new  face--

I  used  a  photo  reference  for  this  one--I  found  the  face  on  Pinterest.  If  you  ever  need  ANY  type  of  inspiration--that's  the  place  to go  to.   As  a  matter  of  fact,  I  just  made  a  great  dinner  on  Sunday  from  a  recipe  that  I  found  on  Pinterest!   And  I'm  sure  I'm  not  telling  you  guys  something  that  you don't  know  already.

29 faces Day 25

Another  face  from  the  past--

 

 

 

She's  one  of  my  first  faces  that  I  ever  painted--it  was  3  years  ago--my  style  has  changed,  but  she's  still  one  of  my  favorites--my  first  Hippie  girl.

 

I  recycled  her  into  a  frame  and  matt--

 

 When  I  do  this,  I  print  out  the  image  on  to  a  heavy  cardstock,  and  then  I  put  a  layer  of  Golden's  matte  medium  over  it  which  creates  a  barrier.  That  way  I  can  add  bits  of  color  to  it  without  the color soaking  into  the  paper so  if  you  make  a  mistake,  you  can  easily  fix it.  The   print  was  a  bit  washed  out,  so  I  just  added  more  color  to it,  and  then  I  made  the  fun  'Hippie' matt to  go  with  her.

29 Faces Day 24

For  today's  face  I  went  back  to  collaging  my  own  art  again  (like  my  sunface  on  day 22).   I just  started  doing  this  (thanks to  Suzi  Dennis : ),  and  it's  my  newest  'thing'.   Whenever  I  start  a  new  technique,  that's  all  I  want  to  do--so  I  did  it  again.

 

I  drew  her  on  a  piece  of  watercolor  paper,  cut  her  up,  and  then  painted  the  squares......

 

 

 

 

......and  then  I  put  her  back  together.....

 

 

...on  a  canvas...

 

I  love  painting  these  little  squares  each  as  their  own  piece  of  art,  but  still  coinciding  with  the  other  pieces  just  enough  to  come  together  well.

29 Faces Day 23

So  here's  my  face  for  today--

 

 

Okay--so  I'm  stretching  it  a  bit  here-- I  didn't  create  this  one  myself--it's  actually  a  magazine  clipping  that  I  found  years  ago,  but  knew  I'd  be  using  it  someday--I'm  just  trying  to  be  a  little  creative  with  bringing  up  new  faces  everyday.

 

She's  a  part  of  this  WIP--

 

 

 

I  knew  just  what  I  was  going  to  do  with  this  piece--

29 Faces Day 22

This  face  was  very  fun  to  create.   I'm  a  subscriber  to  Suzi  Dennis's  you  tube  channel.   If  you're  an  art  journaler,  then  you  will  love her  videos--lots  of  techniques  and  very  fun  art  making.  I'm  really  not  into  art  journaling  that  much--but  I  still  enjoy  her  videos  very  much,  and  find  some  great  inspiration  (like  for  today's  face).   You  can  check  out  her  channel  HERE .    She  has  at  least  one  video  up  each  week.

 

So  this  is  what  I  did.   I  cut  a  piece  of  watercolor  paper  to  a  6 x 6 inch  size  and  I  drew  my face  on  it  (in  this  case,  it  was  a  sunface).   And  then  I  cut  up  the  paper  into  4  equal  squares.   I  took  each  piece  and  painted  it  in--let  me  just  show  you--

 

 

 

I  took  out  what  colors  paint  that  I  wanted  to use,  and  then  I  painted  each  square  individually.   Then  when  I  was all  finished,  I  put  them  back  together  (like  a  puzzle : )  on  to  a  6 x 6  canvas--

 

 

 

--very  fun--I'm  going  to  do this  again,  but  maybe  I'll  cut  up  the  pieces  in random  sizes--that  would  be  fun  too--I  like  putting  puzzles  together  : )
