Before I start--thank you everyone for all of your comments on my last post! I guess everyone loves to talk about art supplies as much as I do, and if you ever want a Part II--let me know. I did want to answer one question. Katherine from
Klueless asked me if you have to store the pitt pens a certain way, and I honestly don't know. I just put them in a cup with the tips down. I know that you're suppose to lay gel pens flat when you store them (yes, I have them too). If anyone knows about the pitt pens, let me know.
When I was at one of my art shows during the summer, I met a couple who helps run a very popular Fall festival in Ohio, and they invited me to be a part of it next year. It's the
Yankee Peddler Festival in Canal Fulton, Ohio, and it's like stepping back into time during the 1700 and 1800's. I've never really thought of applying for this show mainly because it's 3 consecutive weekends, which kind of scares me. Plus the fact--I didn't even know if I would be accepted, because your art or craft has to fit into this time era, and there's the fact that you have to construct your own wooden booth, and also your costume has to be an authentic replica of the period.
But they've added on a new part called Yankee Peddler Today, and that's where I fit in. No wood booths, and any good quality art/craft is accepted. So they sent me complimentary tickets, and that's where we went on Saturday.
It's set in the woods on this great campground site, which is very large (we actually got lost a couple of times), and everything really is authentic from the demonstrations by the artists--
wood carving and--
blacksmiths
and the arts and crafts
Even the food is prepared the way it would have been in the 1800's--delicious!! Oh yeah....let's not forget about the town crier either!
So... this is where I would be--
Looks like a regular craft show--doesn't it? But hey--it's right there next to the original show, and you get the same traffic, and it goes without saying--the quality of the arts and crafts are excellent. Maybe once I'm in the show, and they look at all of my display, they'll let me move up to the more "upscale" neighborhood : )
So, when I was there, I bought a few things--do you want to see? Okay, I'll show you then! Well, whenever I go to these festivals, I'm always on the lookout for anything with faces. I mentioned before that my house is filled with funny faces and odd characters (me being one of them : ) So it was down to a few booths--(click on them for the details)

But in the end I decided on this booth.
And I purchased her--
What would you call her--a forest lady? or a fairy? I'm not sure. I just liked her very serene face, and I decided to put her amongst this motley group--to keep them in check.
And look at this gourd booth--
Those giraffes were calling my name. Actually, this is a Christmas present--
And I'm 99% sure that she doesn't read my blog, but Lisa, if you're reading this--Merry Christmas!
And one more thing--I'm a sucker for hand crafted jewelry, especially copper jewelry-
This pendant is on a chunky 20" brass chain--I love it!!
So all in all, it was a fun day, and if everything goes right, I'm hoping to be in this festival next year.
Okay...now the free tutorial that I want to tell you about. It's at
Carrie Joy's blog. If you aren't familiar with her work, then get over there now! She is truly a gifted artist, and whenever I visit her blog, I am just blown away by her talent, plus she's a beautiful soul--inside and out. Click
here to visit her blog, but also click
here for her free tutorial on working with crackle paste and transferring images. There are 10 videos in all that end up being over an hour long class. The only thing that she's asking for is a donation---considering the time it took her to edit these videos and just the time it took to prepare this tutorial--that's more than a fair request. So I just want to say--THANK YOU Carrie for sharing your wonderful gift with us!
P.S. Don't forget about my giveaway--I'll be drawing the name on Sept. 23--so there's till time if you haven't entered--go
