I'm now in week 3 of the Strathmore journaling workshop. My pages pretty much look the same with just more color added in the background and little details. There's one more week, and I'll post it when I'm finished. Once I start, I get real fussy with the details--does anyone else have this problem too?
Well, I wanted to do another page, and I decided to do the very first one. All the journal artists say to start in the middle somewhere, because of the fear of messing up a brand new journal, and not to start at the beginning. But I wasn't "afraid", so I made page #1-
Since it's my journey into the journaling world, I had to use the map for the collage elements. I really liked making my face on the map!
And now on to the Ebay. I've been cleaning and "purging", but there are some things that I can't possibly throw out, but yet have enough of these items to last me 2 lifetimes, so I put them up on Ebay. Let me show you what is up for bid--
I have some vintage handles that are aged very nicely, plus these larger hinges.
These 2 great vintage magazines that are in remarkably good condition--great victorian images and ads!
And how about this fun lot--all of it's included in this cigar box. That book is dated 1892!
And speaking of journaling or possibly altered books--here's a great lot of children's board books.
Everytime I saw them this summer at garage sales, I would get them---I could now start a board book library.
These are all starting at low bids and if you want more info, you can go to my Ebay site HERE.
And on a side note, Darla asked me if I was having problems with blogger--you know moving photos around or changing your text--well-- haven't we all. Somedays she (Miss Blogger) can be very disagreeable, but she's nothing compared to MS EBAY--this lady is in full PMS mode! It took me about 2 hours to list these 4 listings. Alot of times when I would press continue, it would tell me that the web page was "expired"--just a way of saying--start over and do it all again! But I didn't give up, and they're now all listed.
I also wanted to tell you all about my latest purchase. When I was at Border's I bought this setchbook (a nice 5 x 7 size) I have papers that I've made sketches and ideas scattered all over the house. And it was the last straw when it took me over an hour to find this sketch that I made and put in a place where I could "find" it. So now this book never leaves my side with all of my ideas in it. I now have a little black book--
: )
P. S. American Idol starts tomorrow--I'm very excited!!

American Idol has been one of my favorite things to watch on TV and now all "V" and American Family. That's about all I watch and will be watching on TV. I sometimes watch CNN and General Hospital. Otherwise I'd never get things done. Great piece you've got there Diane. You've put a lot into it. Wonderful. Thx for sharing.

I don't watch American Idol but I'm totally addicted to Project Runway and can't wait until it starts back up again. I love watching those designers work away at their machines.

Lol
Loving your journal page. I adore her face! Beautiful!
You talked about some worry that all the pages wouldn't be as good as you hoped, I am also have that go through my mind and decided to leave the covers till last. Except I did my covers and still have 3 or 4 pages left. I have shared the journal with a few people and even the pages I didn't like as much we liked by some and the pages I like a lot we not their favorite so that is how it goes with art. People are frustrated tho because they can't read every word that I have written and I really don't want them to read every word. I just feel that isn't the point to see every word.
Always sort of a point with me about journals and I don't feel I always have to use words that are pleasant.
Your page is beautiful and yes I have spent a whole day on a page and even more, I want to like it, even the little skinny one I work on.
Diane, your talent just blows me away. LOVE the face with the map image showing through it. Just beautiful! I can't wait to see the rest.

So many goodies! Love your journal! The map through the face is simply beautiful! You always amaze me Diane!
Your journal page is beyond beautiful, Diane! I love the text and map and how you incorporated them into the piece. :) Ebay can be tricky sometimes - I listed some items there and it took me forever (and even more time when I wanted to edit them). Ah the perils of technology! LOL Have a great evening, Theresa

Beautiful work again Diane
Love your work as always! Had to get a new computer and photos would not load or move on blogger until I updated to the "new" settings for editing. Works great now and I am so impressed. Photos are a breeze and I can move them wherever - however it is a little harder to do the HTML. Hugs, girlfriend, please know how much I always appreciate your comments - really I do! Ghost Adventures tonight, these boys are still nutz but so much better than Ghost Hunters International!
Diane...your faces keep getting better and better...just beautiful...love the map!! I like the new judges on idol.
Mary
Your images are so beautiful- and I totally agree with everyone else about the map as a background. Lovely. Wonderful blog too! And I hadn't even thought about altering board books!!!! I have a ton!

Your journal page is really wonderful!
Stunning. Love the way you used the map in her face. Love it. Kyles :D
Hi Diane...I'm taking the Strathmore workshop too and love the new techniques. Your page is absolutely lovely! I love the face/heart/map combo as well! Even though I'm not overly happy with my results (I used magazine images since I didn't have any journal images to recycle) and wasn't too happy with the way the pencil and oil pastels work on the slick, but I should post it anyway...right! Also love American Idol and couldn't wait for it to start this week!
WOW if I look for your beautiful journal pages, I still have to learn so much.
I'm impressed by your new page.
Hugs Anja
OOOH Diane! Your journal page is fanTAStic! Really beautiful! You amaze me. And I laughed at you having little pieces of paper spread throughout the house. I do too!! And the sad thing is I have plenty of sketchbooks, yet I still seem to just reach for a post it! One day i'll learn to keep one by the computer! LOL!
