Saturday was my first show of the year. I've blogged about this show before--I love this show!---in a great little town. It doesn't matter what the weather is like, the residents here come and support it. This year was a bonus, because the weather was perfect!--perfect for the artists and perfect for the customers. It's a fairly large show, set up through the downtown area and park.
These photos were taken in the morning before the official start of the show (people always come early) Look at that beautiful sky!
And here's my booth--all set up and ready to go--
I had just finished that large canvas that you see on the left. I showed more of its progression on my Facebook page.
It's on a 20- x 40 canvas--the largest I've ever painted on. It scared me at first, but I can't believe how much fun I had making this. I wanted to make something that would grab peoples' attention, so they would stop and come into my booth instead of just walking by, and I'd say that it worked!
My sales were the best they've ever been at this show. And it was so good to bring all of my art out that I've been making all of these months and see a LOT of it go to happy homes. It's so nice to connect with people and see their excitement and questions on how I make my art. I love this!
And thanks to my husband, I was able get out and do a little shopping--
--very cool earrings and bracelet and mug (I have this thing for mugs--I like drinking my coffee out of fun stuff)
And I also made sure to catch one of the best farmers' market that I've been to--and very convenient too--it was in a lot very close to my booth--
....lots and lots of home grown vegetables AND fresh baked delicious! pastrys, breads and cookies and homemade jellies and jams and pies--you get the picture.
These art shows are not for everyone. They're a lot of work---the set up and tear down can be killer especially at these one day shows. By the end of the day, the last thing that you want to do is take down a big heavy tent. But....there's something about them (like days like this one) where you can't wait to do it all over again.
It was a great start for my season, and now I gotta get to work (or play)!
